Nevada was a different place in the 1860s with settlers arriving from near and far for opportunity. Although the quartz rock escarpment was entirely free of gold, the true bonanza was in what once seemed like limitless timber resources. A small town was formed, growing to two thousand hardy souls, and even then the Nevada heat necessitated a cold one to make it through the evening. The railroad arrived, and the town gradually moved to Verdi. While times have changed, Crystal Peak  Brewing continues this legacy today with interesting small batch beer.
